Investigators probe fire that badly damaged chapel.

A fire department is investigating the cause of a fire that severely damaged a chapel.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service responded to the Redeemed Christian Church of God chapel on Plumstead Road, Norwich, at approximately 14:30 BST on Sunday.

Firefighters left the scene around 22:40, and a fire investigation is currently underway.

Norfolk Police stated that no criminal investigation was required.

Robby West/BBC The chapel, which is made of bricks has been charred and burnt. The white sign above the door, bearing the church logo has burn marks on it.

Crews from Sprowston, Earlham, Gorleston, Great Yarmouth, Hingham, Hethersett, Long Stratton, and North Walsham were present.

Sheringham and Aylsham crews also contributed to relief efforts.

During the incident, residents were advised to close their windows and road users to seek alternative routes.

According to the service, crews worked for several hours to put out the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.

It stated that a crew would remain on site on Monday to keep an eye on the building.

Previously, the building housed The Wild Stallion Dance Ranch, a line-dancing club.

The church has declined to comment on the fire.
