Ipswich Town: Connor Wickham joins Dubai City FC of the United Arab Emirates

After signing from Reading, the 32-year-old spent some time in the Blues’ academy before making his way to the first squad in 2009, where he scored 15 goals in 72 games.
After leaving for Sunderland in 2011, he played for Cardiff City, Sheffield Wednesday, Crystal Palace, and Forest Green Rovers. After joining Charlton Athletic in March 2024, he made four appearances and scored once before being let go two months later. He then took a break from football to commentate on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday before beginning summer training with the PFA free agents squad.
In a friendly match against Manchester United’s academy, he scored an incredible goal from the halfway line, which went viral on social media. For the first time in his career, Wickham is playing club football outside of England, having joined Dubai City, a second-tier UAE team that was promoted from the third level the previous season under British manager Michael Rice.
