Ipswich Town: Fresh Liam Delap transfer twist revealed
Two seasons ago, who would have imagined that Ipswich’s striker would have been among the most sought-after players in Europe going into this summer transfer window? The idea that they would have been in the Premier League on its own would have been absurd enough, but that’s the situation we’re in.
Chelsea, Manchester United, and Newcastle United are among the top teams on the continent that are lining up to try to get Delap to join them for the upcoming season and beyond.
The 22-year-old, whose £30 million relegation release clause is now live after the Tractor Boys’ 3-0 loss to the Magpies on Saturday, has reportedly drawn interest from German teams Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig.
Ben Jacobs claims that even though he will have his pick of the bunch this summer, he will have less options for clubs since he is putting more emphasis on playing for a squad that would compete in European tournaments the following summer.
The journalist went on to say that the striker, who has scored twelve goals for Ipswich, will have to wait until the end of the current campaign to find out which of the competing suitors can fulfill his condition of participating in continental competitions for the 2025–2026 season.

Man United might be removed off Delap’s board completely if they are unable to make it to and win the Europa League final, which is their sole chance to compete in Europe the following season.
The same would seem to apply to Chelsea and Newcastle, but given their current league standing, they have a far better chance of playing in any European action next season than United.
This news would suggest that Delap’s plans won’t be known to Ipswich until the end of May. However, Jacobs has stated that his decision is anticipated prior to the commencement of the England under-21s’ European tournament, which starts on June 11th, giving the 22-year-old less than two weeks to decide on his next club.
