Ipswich Town: McKenna on Julio Enciso and Jens Cajuste futures.

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna discussed the prospects of loan players Julio Enciso and Jens Cajuste after his side’s Premier League relegation campaign ended with a 3-1 home defeat to West Ham.
Brighton forward Enciso, who has two goals and three assists since joining in January, was pulled from the team outright this afternoon. Ben Godfrey (Atalanta, ill) and Kalvin Phillips (Man City, injured) were also absent, leaving Napoli’s Jens Cajuste, who started the game, as the sole loan player to participate. “With regard to Julio, we chose this week to go with the lads who will be here next year or who are permanently with us.
“He’s given a lot to the cause; he has big internationals (for Paraguay) next week, two qualifiers, and a minor niggle. So we gave him a few days to focus on those, and we chose the boys that have been with us or will be with us in the future.” Does this suggest that the club is still hoping to sign Cajuste on a permanent basis from Serie A winners Napoli? “I’ve already answered that, to be fair,” replied McKenna. “We’ve enjoyed having Jens here, but there’s certainly a lot to accomplish before that happens. We’ll see what the coming weeks bring.”
Christian Walton was a late goalkeeper replacement for Alex Palmer this afternoon after the latter fell ill in the warm-up. “We’ve had a lot of players with the vomiting sickness, and there were two or three on the pitch today. It hit Alex around 2.30 p.m. and has been going around the group for the past few weeks. “Christian stepped in and did well.”
