Ismael ‘grateful’ for turbulent Blackburn Rovers start
In less than four weeks, the situation at Ewood Park has drastically shifted. The club’s attitude has changed as a result of four straight victories, and Saturday’s triumph over Watford guaranteed that their play-off battle would stretch to the very last day.
In any case, Ismael has gained the backing of the players and fans for the upcoming campaign. When supporters demanded his head during the May 4 match against Middlesbrough, that seemed improbable.
The Rovers head coach has earned his time with this run of results, even though other off-field problems haven’t disappeared. He thinks the event helped him because it revealed the real personalities of his team.
“It’s an honest collection of players, as I say. For me at the time, reliability was crucial,” he told The Lancashire Telegraph.
“To check, are the players reliable? I now feel a great sense of gratitude for having such circumstance right from the start.
“I now have a far better understanding of this bunch of athletes. It somewhat altered my perspective on the upcoming season. stating that we can rely on those players.
“I believe the negotiations will take place if we are able to retain every player. However, I believe that our understanding of the players’ stability has improved significantly.
Tyrhys Dolan and Todd Cantwell, who both scored goals and were instrumental in bringing Rovers back into the game, were the driving forces behind the triumph.
Cantwell, who started just one of Ismael’s first five league games, has had a busy few weeks. His fit for a high-pressing team was called into doubt.
He has, however, responded to those with significant performances and final products that demonstrate his clear talent. He is a player that Ismael believes has the potential to be important in the future.
“Having possession of the ball is crucial when playing with a man like Todd Cantwell. “You can’t use his quality if you don’t have the ball,” Ismael stated.
“You must position him high on the field. It will be challenging for him if you have to make a strong defense. It will be challenging for everyone. However, we put him in a nice position and a good location to show up because that’s how we want to play right now.
For him, it was fantastic. I’m quite happy that he has that objective. The X-factor is in him. He’s a player that is able to make the difference at any time.”
Blackburn Rovers had not won from a losing position since August until this victory. They were under duress, behind 1-0 at home against a team that had nothing left to lose, yet they came back.
Ismael was thrilled with his team’s mindset, which was centered on remaining composed and sticking to their strategy.
“We simply told them to concentrate on the procedure and the tasks we need to complete for the game. “I know you want to win the game,” I told them. “I am aware of the high likelihood of that,” he clarified.
“We will overlook things if you are only concerned with the outcome. Thus, return our attention to the performance, our tasks, and our strategy.
“They made it flawlessly, in my opinion, especially after you give up the goal. I believe that the players believed we would return to the game because of the stability we had. Watford had little opportunities.
He believes you are stronger because of this. After there, it’s just a matter of getting an opportunity to confirm. You return to the game first.
“In the game, you build a fresh scenario. The bench then informed us that we had a task to complete if we required it on the field with the substitutes.
