Aaron Rodgers Talks About Will Howard’s Camp Injury: “It Sucks”
When it comes to rookie quarterback Will Howard’s injuries during training camp, Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers isn’t holding back.
In an interview with the media on Wednesday, the day after it was announced that Howard would miss at least the next three weeks due to a fractured tiny bone in his throwing hand, Rodgers described his response to the news and the problem it poses for Howard going forward. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the future Hall of Famer responded, “It sucks,” It’s terrible for him because, as a young player, he’s had such a pleasant camp. and then observing him at minicamp and simply observing his offensive command.”
However, Rodgers went on to say, “this year is a growth year for him,” providing a bright spot. “He has a year to observe, gain knowledge, and undoubtedly improve himself. For him, this will only be a small setback. “I’m not sure when he’ll return, but it would have been fantastic to see him get some live repetitions during the preseason. He should return in time to play in the second or third game, hopefully. In any case, he has this year to mature, develop, and shape his body to his liking in order to prepare for a lengthy career as the guy.
Now, Rodgers is correct; Howard does not like this. Even though the former Ohio State standout was unlikely to play much this season, it would have been beneficial for him to acquire some playing experience in case a 2026 draft pick took his spot the following season. Additionally, the injury will prevent him from playing in Saturday’s preseason opener against the Jaguars, where he was anticipated to play a large number of snaps.
