Celtic appear to be on the verge of signing Manchester City youngster Jahmai Simpson-Pusey.
We reported yesterday that Celtic were linked with Simpson-Pusey as Brendan Rodgers appears to improve his backline.
The teenager has only made six appearances in the Manchester City first team, and the signing of Simpson-Pusey has perplexed Celtic supporters.
However, it appears that the speculation has taken a significant step forward, as Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph reports that Celtic and Manchester City are currently in talks for the teenage defender.

Celtic are ‘in talks’ to sign Jahmai Simpson-Pusey, as loan details emerge
According to Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph, Celtic are currently ‘discussing negotiations’ to sign Simpson-Pusey on loan from Manchester City this season.
According to X Joseph, Celtic are in talks to recruit Manchester City centre-back Jahmai Simpson-Pusey.
“It is known that the clubs are negotiating a season-long loan agreement for the 19-year-old.
“A number of clubs in England are also keen on the player – with Man City only entertaining loan offers.”
So it appears that there may be no opportunity to buy the youngster at the end of his loan, which will disappoint many Celtic fans.
Why nurture a young player from another club when Celtic already has a more than competent backup in Dane Murray?
Why should Dane Murray be Celtic’s backup defender?
Murray, a young Dane, impressed Celtic supporters with some excellent pre-season performances this summer.
More notably, in Celtic’s victory over Sporting CP, Murray appeared composed, assured, and strong in the tackle as he assisted in defeating the Portuguese league and cup winners on their own ground.
If the deal to bring Simpson-Pusey to Celtic is finalised, what message will it convey to the Celtic Academy’s young players about not only improving at the club but also making a first-team breakthrough?
