‘I’ve got to be honest’ – Lee Grant delivers blunt verdict after Huddersfield Town’s loss to Stockport County.

In stormy weather, the Terriers hosted the Hatters at Accu Stadium and put in a poor performance. Oliver Norwood, a former midfield player for Huddersfield, gave Stockport the lead with a penalty kick.

The visitors were then reduced to 10 men, but remained in the ascendency and doubled their advantage through Odin Bailey.

Bojan Radulovic gave Huddersfield a late goal, but there was not enough time for them to rally, and the home team was destined to lose 2-1.

It was a somewhat baffling display from Huddersfield, who undeniably had enough quality on the pitch to hurt their opponents. Getting out of first gear, however, proved tough.

Grant said: “The group have to front that up and we have to take that on the chin and say ‘we’re playing against 10 men’, we have the football, but the threat looked like it was going to come from them.

“That, really, is off the back of where we are and how we started the game. The nervousness, the failure to be secure behind the football, was a theme throughout the fixture.”
