James Ward-Prowse Ready to Re-join Southampton After West Ham Snub

James Ward-Prowse Ready to Re-join Southampton After West Ham Snub.

James Ward-Prowse, a midfielder for West Ham United, was cut from the team for Monday’s 1-1 draw at Everton and is anticipated to be traded in January, according to talkSPORT.

According to reports, the London Stadium team would consider offers for the England international at the beginning of the year, and Ward-Prowse is amenable to rejoining Southampton, his previous club.

Prior to being benched by new manager Nuno Espirito Santo for his debut on Monday, the 30-year-old midfielder had started every game this season under Graham Potter.

Following the Portuguese tactician’s appointment, Ward-Prowse is rumoured to have already been informed that he “has no future” at the club. He is anticipated to investigate his alternatives when the transfer window reopens. Joining West Ham from Southampton in August 2023, the England international, who earns £144,000 a week, has a contract that expires in the summer of 2027.

Ward-Prowse’s absence from West Ham’s 1-1 draw with Everton was solely due to selection, according to GIVEMESPORT sources, since Espirito Santo does not see the 30-year-old in his future plans. The midfield combination of Mateus Fernandes, Lucas Paqueta, and summer acquisition Soungoutou Magassa—who received his first start of the season—was the Portuguese tactician’s choice instead.

Potter left West Ham on Saturday, and a few hours later, the Portuguese manager Espirito Santo was appointed as the new manager on a three-year contract. Three games into the Premier League season and less than three months after the club offered him a new three-year deal, the 51-year-old was fired as Forest’s manager on September 9. Forest secured European football for the first time in thirty years last season as Espirito Santo led the team to a seventh-place finish.
