Jeremy Smith on new Watford winger Maamma.

Watford have signed Moroccan youth international Othmane Maamma on a four-year contract, with the club viewing him as a project rather than an immediate starter.
The Watford Observer revealed this week that Maamma was in the UK for talks with the Hornets, and the signing from Montpellier has now been confirmed.
The 19-year-old winger is not expected to contribute immediately, but the club believes they have struck a fair deal in signing a talented young player who can be developed during his time at Vicarage Road.
We have consistently reported Watford’s plan to enhance their assault this summer, and Maamma, who can play on both flanks, adds to the numbers in that area of the pitch.

Furthermore, sources have indicated that the Hornets are looking for another centre-back, as James Abankwah has already returned to the club on a season-long loan from Udinese.
Caleb Wiley, whose loan move from Chelsea has been in the works for some time, is also said to be on his way to join Maamma.
Maamma played 12 games for Montpellier in Ligue 1 last season, scoring two goals and providing an assist. He has also made 20 appearances for Morocco’s Under-20s, scoring four goals.
