JOEL TOMKINS CONFIRMED AS CATALANS’ HEAD COACH UNTIL THE END OF 2025.

Catalans Dragons have appointed Joel Tomkins as head coach till the conclusion of the season. Joel Tomkins, a former Dragons player, rejoined the coaching staff at the start of the season as an assistant.

His dedication, knowledge of the squad, and top-level experience encouraged the club to entrust him with the team’s leadership for the rest of the season. After progressing through the Wigan Youth Development System, Tomkins made his Super League debut in 2008.

In 2010, he was named to the Super League Dream Team. He won the Super League, the Challenge Cup, and the League Leader’s Shield with the Cherry and Whites, as well as his first caps for England.

Tomkins, a former England rugby league and union international, has over 250 first-team appearances for the Warriors in two periods and has also played for Saracens after switching codes from 2011 to 2014.

He returned to rugby league with Wigan in 2014, then moved to Hull KR in 2018 and finally to the Dragons. Joel Tomkins, who retired at the end of the 2021 season, returned to rugby league last season as assistant coach of Wigan’s reserve squad.

After a good season on Matt Peet’s staff, he joined the Dragons as defensive coach.Joel Tomkins stated, “I am overjoyed to be named head coach of the Catalans Dragons, and I would like to thank the club’s owner and directors for their confidence in me.

“I may be new to coaching, but I approach this task with passion, enthusiasm, and complete belief in what this team is capable of. “I’ve been fortunate to learn from some outstanding mentors and my experiences within the game, and I’m ready to bring a fresh perspective to the team and club.”
