Kevin Nagle drops “outplayed” Huddersfield Town claim after Doncaster Rovers win

Huddersfield Town owner Kevin Nagle has offered praise to manager Lee Grant following the team’s 2-0 win over Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday night.

The Terriers have had a great start to life under their new management, with their eyes set on another promotion challenge this year.

Grant has overseen three victories in his first four league games, with the win over Rovers putting the team back on track following last weekend’s 3-2 setback to Blackpool.

Ben Wiles scored in the 78th minute, and Joe Taylor converted a penalty six minutes later to make it three points.

Nagle praised Huddersfield’s performance at home on Tuesday night on social media, focusing on the second half.

The US businessman has expressed his thoughts on Grant’s first season in command of the Yorkshire club, which is aiming to return to the Championship this year.

“I am really happy how Lee took control at the half, made adjustments, and came away with 3 points,” Nagle posted on his personal X account.

“We give Doncaster credit in the first half, but they were outplayed in the second half, including committing a penalty.

“We make no excuses.”

Huddersfield’s promotion ambition

Huddersfield are aiming for promotion to the Championship for the second time after finishing in 10th place previous season.

Grant was named manager during the summer, and the former goalkeeper is coaching for the first time.

The 42-year-old previously served as a coach with Ipswich Town, where he assisted Kieran McKenna as the club won back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League.

Huddersfield’s next game is at home against Stevenage on August 23rd, at 3pm.

Huddersfield are showing promise under Lee Grant

Losing to Blackpool last weekend was a disappointing result, especially since they spent nearly an hour playing against 10-men with a 3-2 scoreline and failed to capitalize.

However, the club reacted with a terrific win on Tuesday night, and Grant’s performance as manager thus far has been promising.

This year’s promotion battle is expected to be extremely competitive, and it is far too early in the season to predict if Huddersfield will be in the mix.

However, the Terriers have made a great start and appear to be capable of being in contention until the end of the season.
