Key contract detail revealed as Henrik Pedersen begins life as Sheffield Wednesday manager

Henrik Pedersen, the new Sheffield Wednesday manager, has signed a long-term contract with the club.

On Thursday morning, the Dane was announced as Danny Röhl’s replacement, taking command of a ship in what he described as ‘difficult waters’.

Pedersen has stated that his passion for the club and the city motivated his choice to take over despite the challenges, urging fans to support the squad. As is customary on Wednesday, there was no confirmation of a contract duration for the 47-year-old, but The Star believes that he has a three-year agreement in place that, if completed, would go until 2028.

Pedersen’s tenure as official Owls manager began this morning, when he put the players through their paces at Middlewood Road, and he’ll sit in the dugout as manager for the first time next Sunday, when they go to Leicester City for their Championship debut.

The former Eintracht Braunschweig and Stromsgodset head coach, who has also worked within the Red Bull structures, will now try to assemble a technical team so that Andy Holdsworth and other academy coaches can return to their regular roles at the club after helping out in the first team during preseason.

Another problem will be finding new players to supplement their roster, which will undoubtedly be difficult given the present embargo and fee restrictions.
