UPDATE (Friday, May 2, 2025, 2:45 p.m.):
Kingstonist contacted the OPP about a social media post featuring an OPP-issued notice for a wanted male, which accounts online have claimed is related to the Odessa death investigation described above.
The post, a screenshot of a standard OPP-issued wanted person notice, depicts a male who is currently wanted by police and, in some cases, appears to have been originally posted by the OPP East Region account on X.
According to Bill Dickson, Media Relations Coordinator for the OPP East Region, the wanted notice was posted on X by the OPP East Region account, but it was done in error and was quickly removed. When asked if the wanted notice was related to the ongoing death investigation in Odessa, Dickson clarified, “The post had the identity and image of an individual currently connected to incidents in another area.”
“Circumstances related to the death in Odessa remain under investigation,” Dickson told Kingstonist, adding that the notice was “posted on the East Region [X] account in error.”
