Crystal Palace has a successful track record of acquiring talented wingers from Championship clubs and developing them into Premier League regulars.

According to Africa Foot, the FA Cup holders are interested in signing Watford’s Kwadwo Baah for around £6.7 million.

Before making his senior debut for the Hornets this season, Baah spent time on loan at Fortuna Düsseldorf and Burton Albion. Despite being sidelined at times by injury, the exciting winger has looked extremely promising on the pitch.

Games 27
Starts 16

Fouls won 27

As a result, the Eagles appear to be looking to strike while the iron is hot, bringing in Baah before his value skyrockets.

According to FLW’s Watford fan pundit Justin Beattie, Baah’s value already exceeds Palace’s proposed offer.

Baah interest dismissed at the quoted price.

Kwadwo Baah
Beattie dismissed speculation that Kwadwo Baah would leave Watford this summer for Crystal Palace’s proposed fee.

“I can’t imagine for one second that Watford would be willing to sell him for £6.7 million,” he told reporters.

“He is an extraordinary and exciting talent. Despite the fact that he had only been with us for one season and was missing due to suspension and injury, he appeared to have the best chance of scoring.

“I would very much expect him to be a part of Watford’s plans for next season, if not longer, and a £6.7 million price tag is laughable really.”

Beattie believes Baah has the potential to play in the Premier League in the future, but for the time being, he is optimistic about his ability to continue his development at Vicarage Road.

“He is a Premier League player in the making, but I don’t think he’s ready to go there just yet and certainly not for a fee that small.”

Watford should hope that Baah realises Premier League potential at his current club.

Kwadwo Baah

Watford signed Kwadwo Baah for the upcoming Premier League season (2021/22). Vicarage Road’s decision to pay a “six-figure fee” for an 18-year-old winger who had just been relegated from League One with Rochdale demonstrated their high expectations for the German-born player.

Since their relegation, Watford has been stuck in the Championship’s mid-table. It’s likely that Premier League players will soon leave the club.

Hornets fans will be hoping that Baah’s output improves next season, after the 22-year-old was limited to just 27 Championship appearances, with only two in the last 18 games, due to a thigh injury.

If he truly has Premier League potential, he could be a driving force in returning the Hornets to the top flight.
