The striker is out of contract, and it remains unclear where he will play football in the 25/26 season. Hearts have returned to the Oriam as preparations begin under new head coach McInnes, with new additions such as Claudio Braga reporting for duty ahead of Premier Sports Cup games in July. Premier League matches were also revealed on Friday morning. According to Sky, McInnes believes Hearts are still a strong alternative for Shankland in light of Scotland’s potential World Cup participation next year, while a Gorgie contract offer is still being considered.

Lawrence Shankland Hearts future latest

He said: “Lawrence has obviously got a lot to consider. We think we’re a really strong option for him whether we’re the best option in Lawrence’s eyes, we’ve got to wait and see. But there’ll come a point really that we need to draw a line under it and Lawrence has got to look after him and I’ve got to look after Hearts.

“Hopefully, we can find a solution because he is a player who I believe will thrive with us at Hearts. He’s proved how valuable he is during his time here, and you don’t let players like that leave without putting up the best fight you can, and we’re fighting for him. I feel we are a really solid alternative for Lawrence. I believe we are the finest alternative for him at the moment. He has the World Cup to try to participate in at the end of next season. If he can score at least 25 goals next season, I believe he will be heading to the World Cup with Scotland so hopefully there’s loads of reasons why Lawrence could see this as a good option for him.

“I always believe that deadlines are not always beneficial; they may sometimes be adversarial. There have been enough chats with Lawrence. I’m supposed to speak with him again today, and we’ll see where things go from there. There will come a time when he has to move on and try to secure his future, and I need to make sure that we secure our squad going forward, but we’re not there yet, but sooner rather than later to try and get that resolved because I want clarity in what I’m dealing with, and I’m sure Lawrence does as well.”

Following a recent surge in early activity, Hearts are looking for a winger, and McInnes accepts exits are possible. He continued, “We’re just trying to discover different types of players who we believe would make us more competitive and well-rounded. We’d still like to try and add more width to the team, particularly off the right side, and that’s been my focus, but these things are continual. “We’re still trying to bring a couple in, and the squad is very loaded with players right now, but I’ve also got to say I think we’ve got a lot of talented players here, and I think I’ve been happy and fortunate to inherit the squad that we’ve got. Let’s just try to get a wee bit more out of them.

“Obviously, players are always searching for playing time. We’ve all been there, and we want to make sure you’re in the manager’s plans. Not everyone can play the number of minutes they want. But I’m looking forward to getting started with the fellas and seeing where we end up over the next weeks. There will be no rushed judgements taken in the next week or two.
