Lee Hendrie identifies the players from Sheffield United, Middlesbrough, and Birmingham City you should keep an eye on.

According to pundit Lee Hendrie, Tommy Doyle of Birmingham City, Finn Azaz of Middlesbrough, and Gustavo Hamer of Sheffield United might all be exciting to watch in the Championship the next season.

Birmingham defeated Sunderland and Wrexham to sign Doyle on a season-long loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a deal that was first exclusively made public by FLW last month.

Should the Midlands team succeed in their goal of promotion to the Premier League, they will be required to purchase the midfield player permanently the following summer.

Azaz was one of Middlesbrough’s better players during their poor season, which ended in 10th place in the standings. He will be looking to build on his double-figure goal and assist totals from the previous campaign.

Hamer, a midfielder for Sheffield United, helped his team reach the play-off final last season with 10 goals and eight assists in 46 games.

However, after missing out on promotion, the Blades may be at risk of losing the 28-year-old, who is reportedly drawing interest from Dutch powerhouse PSV Eindhoven. Hendrie mentioned Louie Barry as a player to watch next season in addition to Doyle, Azaz, and Hamer.

The Aston Villa forward is rumoured to be nearing a loan move to Sheffield United, where he will rejoin his former Hull City manager Ruben Selles.

Lee Hendrie makes an intriguing allegation involving Sheffield United, Birmingham City, and Middlesbrough.

Hendrie acknowledged in an exclusive interview with Football League World that Doyle, Azaz, Hamer, and Barry will face pressure to perform well for their teams the next season, but he still believed all four players would rank among the Championship’s best players.

“When you’re looking at players, you look at the capture of Tommy Doyle for Birmingham City, and I think he could really be a standout player this season for them and in the Championship,” Hendrie stated.

“I believe he has a lot to show, but he’s a great player, so I believe teams will view him as someone who can control games.

Finn Azaz was excellent last season; he shown that he could step up, and Middlesbrough greatly benefited from his goals and assists.

“He was strongly linked to leaving, but I think he has a lot to prove and will have a tremendously important season.

“I was going to include Gustavo Hamer as well because, in my opinion, he was the Championship player of the year.

“You believe he should dominate the Championship, but it’s another question whether he will still be there.

Louie Barry should be included as well. “I think he’s got so much to prove, and if he is going to Sheffield United, he could certainly prove a massive point this season in the Championship.”

Tommy Doyle’s transfer to Birmingham City might be the summer’s biggest Championship trade.

It is hard to disagree with Hendrie that Doyle, Azaz, Hamer, and Barry will all be players to watch in the Championship next season, since Birmingham, Middlesbrough, and Sheffield United are all predicted to be in the running for promotion.

There might be more eyes on events at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park, though, given that Blues owner Tom Wagner publicly announced that the team is aiming for back-to-back promotions the next season, their substantial financial resources, and the well-known presence of Tom Brady on the board.

Even though Kyogo Furuhashi, who joined the team from Rennes in a deal worth up to £10 million, received more publicity for his arrival, Doyle is arguably the Championship’s best summer acquisition to date.

Having already earned automatic promotion from the division with Sheffield United, he will be hoping to do so again with Birmingham the following season.
