Leeds United and Burnley face hurdle in Jamie Vardy race as new club enter battle

The leaving Foxes striker had already been linked with another Premier League move (as per TEAMtalk), with the newly promoted duo both understood to be admirers. However, sources from Fichajes now say that New York might also be a potential destination for Vardy.

The 38-year-old is rumored to be now in negotiations with a possible new club, albeit it is currently unclear which one.

Reports state that Vardy’s relocation across the Atlantic would help his new employers much both on and off the field.

It is well known that the Red Bulls view the frontman as a future star who could serve as both the project’s recognizable face and an asset on the field.

This is nothing new in the MLS; Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi are recent examples of players who have significantly improved a club’s reputation in the USA, and David Beckham and Steven Gerrard have also done so in the past.

In recent years, the league has evolved into a place for veteran players to take on a new challenge (with extra financial benefits) before their careers are over.

The chance to relocate overseas and experience a different culture, as well as get a taste of what football is like outside of England, may make it an especially alluring move for the Foxes player.

The striker’s departure from the East Midlands team was inevitable, but given his age, it may come as a bit of a surprise that the decision to part ways has come at this particular moment.

Vardy has comfortably improved his goal return from his most recent top-flight stint back in 2022–2023 and is expected to finish the season as his team’s top scorer with eight Premier League goals to his name so far this season.
