Leeds United drops a bombshell about the misfit keeper Illan Meslier’s transfer shock
Several clubs attempted to sign Illan Meslier, who was predicted to depart Leeds United during the just-ended transfer window.
The French goalie, who is still at Elland Road, is part of the Premier League’s 24-man roster.
The Frenchman lost his spot in the squad toward the close of the previous campaign when Daniel Farke made the decision to switch goals after a string of high-profile mistakes that threatened to halt his team’s ascent to the Premier League.
Meslier hasn’t participated in a competitive match since Karl Darlow seemed reliable in goal. He continued to participate in friendlies and assist in the team’s preseason preparations.
However, it was anticipated that Lucas Perri would leave Elland Road during the summer transfer window as a result of his arrival.
Despite rumors of a deadline-day transfer on Monday, Meslier remains at Elland Road after dropping to the team’s third or fourth choice goalkeeper.
According to Leeds United’s MD, Illan Meslier turned down several approaches.
Robbie Evans, the managing director of Leeds, has clarified the ambiguity around Meslier’s Elland Road future during the transfer season.
A few clubs expressed interest in the Frenchman, he disclosed, but he acknowledged that their offers were not as strong as they ought to have been for a player of his caliber.
Meslier is still a very promising young goalie, he emphasized, adding that the Frenchman rejected a number of clubs over the summer that he had no interest in joining.
Evans told The Athletic, “There was some interest in Illan, but it wasn’t as strong as I’d expect for a player of his calibre.”
“He’s a terrific player, young, experienced, and, to be honest, he didn’t want to go to a circumstance he didn’t want to be in,” the statement reads. “I know he lost his spot late last season because the team needed a change.
“It was better that he be here because it turned out to be the case for both parties.”

Leeds needs to resolve their issue with Meslier.
The Leeds goalkeeper was approached by a number of teams in the summer, including Lorient, Rangers, and Valencia, but he chose to remain at Elland Road.
Although a move to Saudi Arabia or Turkey is still a possibility, Leeds has already rejected Galatasaray’s attempt to recruit Meslier.
Leeds now faces the possibility of having one of their top earners remain on his contract until at least the winter transfer window, even though Perri is the first-choice keeper.
