Leeds United paying €22m to secure player – Agreement with player and club, announcement on way

Jaka Bijol got married in Slovenia last weekend, which caused his transfer to Leeds United to drag delayed.

We reported various stories from Italy earlier this week, claiming that the Whites had moved forward with a deal for the defender and were prepared to provide the sum that Udinese considered acceptable.

On Wednesday, it was reported that the 26-year-old was scheduled for his Leeds United physical that day, with an announcement expected in the following days.

There has been no announcement as of Saturday, and impatience is increasing in line with last week’s timing. To put things in perspective, in Italy, the deal is considered complete, with Udinese now looking for a replacement player.

Calciomercato reports that Leeds United would pay €22 million for the deal, adding that Inter Milan was also interested in the Slovenia international. As we reported a week ago, the Yorkshire club established an agreement with Bijol’s team before making an initial offer to Udinese, which was rejected, and then returning with a successful second offer.

Unless Leeds United wish to test supporters’ patience further, an announcement will be made soon.

Udinese is looking to recruit Nicolò Bertola from Sepzia as a replacement.
