Leeds United see initial bid rejected for ‘magnificent’ midfielder, another £4m will get deal done

Leeds United see initial bid rejected for ‘magnificent’ midfielder, another £4m will get deal done.

Leeds United appear to be looking for a new midfielder and starting striker after signing Lukas Nmecha and Jaka Bijol, with the latter undergoing a physical on Wednesday.

With Nmecha arranging cover for a big-money striker, Leeds made an offer for Rodrigo Muniz and were rumoured to be in advanced negotiations with Nikola Krstovic. Leeds are keeping an eye on Vladyslav Vanat during the U21 Euros. Even after signing Nmecha on a free transfer from Wolfsburg, Leeds may look to add another striker. Along with Ao Tanaka, Ilia Gruev, and Ethan Ampadu, another vital midfielder is needed. Leeds has plenty of possibilities on its radar. Leeds have recently been connected with Raphael Onyedika of Club Brugge, but Strasbourg captain Habib Diarra appears to be the player Leeds want to acquire this summer.

Leeds United told to improve Habib Diarra bid by another £4m

Leeds had made a bid for Senegal star Diarra, according to reports that surfaced earlier this month. Just 24 hours later, he nutmegged Dean Henderson to score in Senegal’s 3-1 victory over England at Forest.

Strasbourg had not responded as they awaited further bids, with Diarra believing he deserved to join an elite club. However, Strasbourg President Marc Keller has stated that Diarra would go this summer. Now TeamTalk provides an update. According to reports, Strasbourg has responded to Leeds by rejecting the 49ers’ £21 million bid. According to the article, an additional £4 million, bringing the total to £25 million, will complete the transaction.

The other clubs interested in signing Habib Diarra this summer

Diarra has shone in Ligue 1, and despite being only 21 years old and captaining Strasbourg, there is a lot of interest in him. Especially after Liam Rosenior praised Diarra as “magnificent” after naming him captain. So Leeds are not alone. According to a recent source, Rasmus Kristensen’s Frankfurt wants Diarra, as do a number of Premier League clubs. Everton, Brighton, Nottingham Forest, and Villa have all expressed interest in Diarra. Leeds appear to be dominating the battle for Diarra just by making a bid and talking about an agreement to sign him. However, this appears to be a challenging task, with Leeds officials still sceptical.
