Leeds United told to bid £18m to sign Brazil-born star, Dan James said he is a ‘great player’
Leeds United’s work in the transfer window continues to hot up with a priority signing expected to be confirmed in the coming hours – in the form of centre-back Jaka Bijol.
The 26-year-old defender’s move to Leeds is all but done and fans are now awaiting confirmation, which has felt like an eternity to arrive. Bijol will be Leeds’ second signing of the summer after Lukas Nmecha.
There remains plenty of work to do for Adam Underwood and his team. Remaining on the agenda is a new goalkeeper, replacements for Junior Firpo and Manor Solomon, a midfielder and a starting striker.
The need for a new no.10 also remains, with the opinion that Leeds need better than Brenden Aaronson. Graeme Bailey has informed LeedsUnited.News that he expects it to be either Emi Buendia or Gus Hamer.
Leeds United told to repeat £18m bid to sign Gus Hamer
Leeds will need to spend £20m to sign Emi Buendia, with the Argentine keen on a move this summer. The Whites wanted Buendia in January but he refused to drop into the Championship and joined Leverkusen.

But Hamer will remain a player of interest to Leeds. Having failed to get promoted with The Blades, he will surely want a move following Chris Wilder’s exit at Bramall Lane. TeamTalk provide an update on Hamer.
They claim that Leeds bid £18m for Hamer in the summer of 2024, after reports last summer of an initial £13m offer for the playmaker. They say another £18m bid will see a deal completed to sign Hamer.
What Dan James recently said about Sheff Utd’s Gus Hamer
Dan James and Gustavo Hamer were two of three players nominated for the Championship Player of the Season award, along with Burnley’s James Trafford. Three players that have starred over the last year.
However, Hamer won the award before the play-offs. James admitted he was gutted not to win, saying: “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little disappointed. Two other great players. Congrats to Gustavo [Hamer].”
Hamer now has two years remaining on his contract and will surely be open to a move to Leeds and a return to the Premier League. Whether Leeds go back in for Hamer for a third time, remains to be seen.
