Leicester release ELEVEN players after Premier League relegation – with Jamie Vardy joined by forgotten former Liverpool star through the exit door.

Leicester have dismissed 11 players following their relegation to the Championship, including club legend Jamie Vardy. The list contains former Liverpool custodian Danny Ward and his teammate Daniel Iversen, who were released after their contracts expired at the end of 2024-25. Oliver Ewing, Harvey Godsmark-Ford, Ben Grist, Deniche Hill, Liam McAlinney, Arjan Raikhy, Joe Wormleighton, and Brad Young are among the eight junior team members who will depart. A club statement read: ‘All three leave with the deepest appreciation of everybody at Leicester City for their contributions during their time at King Power Stadium, as well as our best wishes for the future chapters in their careers.’

Vardy, 38, confirmed his departure from the King Power Stadium last month following 13 years with the club. In an emotional statement, he said: ‘It’s something I’ve considered and discussed with my family. I believe it’s time. If you ask anyone, I’m not a very emotional guy.

‘Nothing like that has ever come over to me, but when you’ve been somewhere for so long and it’s time to say goodbye, you never know what your personal reaction will be. ‘I’ve spent 13 incredible years at this club, with plenty of success and a few lows, but the majority of them have been great. It’s finally time to call it quits, which I’m devastated about, but I believe the timing is right. During his stint at King Power Stadium, Vardy helped City win the Premier League and FA Cup for the first time in club history, as well as the Golden Boot in 2020.

He was also a key member of Leicester’s successful ‘Great Escape’ at the end of the 2014-15 season. His goals, which he scored in a record 11 consecutive Premier League games, were a crucial role in the club’s 5000/1 title charge, which led to Champions League football, and he also won the FA Cup in 2021. Although Vardy will turn 39 in January, Mail Sport understands he does not intend to retire and has previously voiced confidence in his ability to play beyond the age of 40. Vardy gave fans a reason to cheer during his farewell game for the Foxes when he notched his 200th goal for the club in 500th and final game in Leicester blue.
