Leighton James’ career at Burnley was extremely successful, especially during his initial stint there in the 1970s.
1970-1975: This was his first and arguably most successful period. He became a key player, helping Burnley win the Second Division title in 1972-73 and securing promotion back to the First Division. He was also the team’s top scorer in the 1974-75 season.
1978-1980: He returned to Burnley after spells with Derby County and QPR.
1986-1989: His final spell at Burnley saw him also take on a role as youth team manager. He retired from playing in 1989.
