Lincoln City backed to strike seven-figure transfer deal after “insulting” Swansea City bid

Following Swansea City’s “insulting” proposal, Lincoln City is favored to sign a seven-figure transfer agreement.

Swansea is reportedly in the lead for Erhahon, with the Welsh team seeking to agree to a cost of more than £1 million plus add-ons for the 24-year-old, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Lincoln reportedly turned down the Swans’ £600,000 offer for Erhahon last month, with director of football Jez George saying that the midfielder’s agency and his pursuers are “very aware of the number” the team is seeking.

Swansea has had a busy start to the summer, having already brought in striker Bobby Wales from Kilmarnock and winger Zeidane Inoussa from BK Hacken for a reported £5.1 million. With Erhahon’s possible arrival, the team may be able to let Jay Fulton join Plymouth Argyle.

After joining from St Mirren in January 2023, Erhahon has spent the last two and a half years with the Imps. Although he did not perform to the same level this season as he did in the 2023–24 campaign, he is anticipated to draw a lot of EFL interest this summer, with the Swans among his admirers.

Gary Hutchinson, a Lincoln City fan commentator on FLW, acknowledged that the money from Erhahon’s sale to Swansea would be a nice addition to the Imps’ summer transfer fund when questioned if the reported fee of over £1 million for the player would be a good deal for the team.

“It seems Swansea are finally coming up with the money after their derisory £600,000 offer,” Gary stated to FLW.

“I did question whether or not we would speak with them once more.

“That amount has never been disputed; it must be more than £1 million.

“Swansea’s attempt to make an offer that would likely be roughly half of the amount we’re willing to take was actually pretty arrogant because the club has always had a figure in mind since purchasing Ethan Erhahon that his agent and buying clubs would have known about.

As the player, I would consider it offensive if Swansea made an offer of £600,000 and he was worth, say, £1.2 million. I would advise them to move on.

Selling Erhahon for more than £1 million would be beneficial for our transfer strategy and free up funds for our own team.

“We’ll probably already have a number of targets in mind, so we’ll use that money to acquire two or three players and, ideally, repeat the process.

“The long-term model is to be a little bit like Peterborough in terms of churning out players that go on to play at a higher level, it’s all part of the plan.”
