Liverpool interested in Sheffield United starlet, reporter claims

Sheffield United forward Ryan One has interest from Premier League winners Liverpool, reporter Graeme Bailey has said.

Sheffield United has a crucial play-off final to prepare for. SUFC will face Sunderland at Wembley Stadium on Saturday for a spot in the Premier League next season.
The Blades’ players and coaches will focus all of their efforts on preparation for the critical game against the Black Cats, while recruiting officials will be looking ahead to the summer transfer window.

While the required recruitment plans are in place, there are some key players at Sheffield United who could attract interest regardless of how the season finishes.

Among them is Sheffield United striker Ryan One, who has reportedly piqued Liverpool’s interest.

Reporter Graeme Bailey told EFL Analysis that the Premier League winners are among the clubs interested in the 18-year-old Scot. Liverpool is believed to be ‘putting an awful lot of work’ on One, and Bailey even goes so far as to suggest he would ‘be stunned’ if the SUFC prospect did not make the move to Anfield.

Earlier this year, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano stated that Ipswich Town were also interested in One as a potential replacement for Liam Delap.

After Ipswich Town were linked with Sheffield United’s prodigy One in April, Blades manager Chris Wilder made it clear that he saw the striker’s future at Bramall Lane.
Wilder lauded the teenager’s ‘great future,’ but insisted it was in red and white. The Yorkshire Post quotes him as saying:

“Ryan has a huge future in front of him and his future is in a red and white shirt.”

The youthful talent joined SUFC from Hamilton Academical in the summer of 2023, signing a new contract until 2029 at the start of the season.

One hopes not impacted by promotion fate?

It appears that promotion will not be a deciding factor in whether One is enticed away from Sheffield United or not.

It normally plays a huge role, but as an incoming youth who has yet to establish himself in senior football, this is not the case. One would be best off sticking where he is most likely to earn senior opportunities, which appears to be with the Blades right now.

Perhaps SUFC will be more willing to accept a large deal if they do not have Premier League resources behind them, but the club is well-funded, and judging by Wilder’s earlier statements, One has no intention of pressing a move anytime soon.
