Luton care home for autistic people rated ‘requires improvement’ and given warning by CQC
Following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), a Luton care home for people with autism and learning disabilities was issued a warning about how it treats its residents.
Inspectors visited Hope Lodge Care Home, located at 98 Farley Hill, in Luton earlier this year and issued a formal warning.

The home’s operator, Naizrah Care Ltd, received a rating of’requires improvement’.
The report stated that medications were not always managed safely. People’s health and safety were not always adequately addressed in care plans and risk assessments.
Inspectors found that home monitoring and improvement systems were ineffective.
Despite this, staff “understood the risks people might face.”
Inspectors stated, “Staff were recruited safely.” People’s communication needs were assessed. Staff emphasised people’s privacy and dignity. Employees felt supported.
The CQC questioned those who use the service about their experiences. According to the report, “Relatives told us that staff treated people well and that they could provide feedback on people’s care. One relative told us, “Yes, I think [family member] is safe there,” while another said, “I feel [family member] is very safe.”
We approached Hope Lodge Care Home for comment, but they did not respond by the deadline.
Inspectors also discovered that people’s cultural and religious needs were met, that they received support from professionals outside the home, and that their independence was encouraged.
