Residents of a Caddington housing estate have “diced with death” along a nearby road for over ten years, but there may be light at the end of the tunnel, according to a meeting.
The long-awaited footpath connecting Caddington Woods estate properties to the village and Slip End is nearing completion.
A Central Bedfordshire Council meeting was informed that work on the path will begin this summer after overcoming a legal barrier. A 222-signature petition was presented to the local authority, urging it to construct the Heritage Greenway between Caddington and Slip End.
Tony Coaker, a resident, stated that the footway was “already agreed, funded, and promised more than a decade ago” and that it was intended to connect new homes at Caddington Woods to the village.
“Instead, residents face a kind of daily obstacle course. The development has 325 homes, but no pathway, no route to school, shops, doctors, or churches, unless you’re willing to walk through mud or risk death on Chaul End Road.
