When the summer transfer window opens, the Sunderland star is anticipated to attract significant interest.
According to Spanish rumours, Real Madrid is interested in Sunderland star Jobe Bellingham.
A number of elite European teams, notably Real Madrid, where his brother Jude presently plays, have expressed interest in Jobe Bellingham after a stellar season. That’s according to the prominent Spanish news source, Marca. Similar to his older sibling, the 19-year-old midfielder has made 39 Championship appearances this season, contributing four goals and three assists.
Jobe has the opportunity to help lead Sunderland towards promotion to the Premier League, one of the most famous football leagues in the world, as the team has already guaranteed their spot in the Championship play-offs with one game remaining in the regular season.
Their story also says that Jobe appears to be travelling a similar road as Jude, who rose to popularity at Birmingham City before winning a move to Borussia Dortmund, where his star climbed further and finally led to a moving to Real Madrid – a team he’s already won a Champions League trophy with.
In recent months, Jobe has been the focus of intense transfer rumours. He has been connected to a wide range of suitors, including continental teams like Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig as well as Premier League powerhouses like Manchester United and Chelsea. According to reports from Europe as recently as last week, Sunderland would contemplate selling Bellingham in the upcoming months only if they were willing to pay at least £21.5 million.
What else have people said about Jobe Belliingham?
Manchester United are reportedly planning a double push for Sunderland talents Jobe and Chris Rigg this summer, but face heavy competition and financial challenges.
Ruben Amorim, the Red Devils’ manager, is thought to be looking to bolster numerous aspects of his squad in order to construct a club capable of contending at the highest level of the Premier League. However, United’s spending capacity is now limited by Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR), which means the club may need to sell players before making any substantial moves in the transfer market.
According to Bailey, Amorim’s side “will try to sign” both players, but the level of interest from other clubs, combined with Sunderland’s own goals, could complicate any prospective deal.
“Ineos would consider signing both, the interest in Rigg is staggering, as so many clubs want him; more than half the Premier League to abroad,” Bailey replied to United in Focus. “United has made a convincing case to him, but I’m told Rigg isn’t yet ready to make his decision.
“Borussia Dortmund are really hopeful. Daniel Dodds, their chief scout, is close to him after being introduced to him several years ago by his brother Mike Dodds, currently Wycombe manager, who worked with him at Sunderland.
“Likewise, Dortmund is well aware of [Jobe] Bellingham. Within football, there is widespread recognition that Bellingham has made significant progress this season, with his analytics figures regarded as ‘off the charts’, and a strong use of analytics is part of United’s new footballing department.
“We gather that Bellingham is now firmly in United’s sights; in addition to analytics, scouts admire his athleticism and believe he would be an excellent fit as one of Ruben Amorim’s attacking midfielders. United failed to sign [his brother] Jude in 2020, but they may now be able to finalise a deal with Jobe. The cost of Bellingham, which would be less than £30 million, would also affect United’s finances this summer.
