Man accused of sexual assaults on HMP Norwich inmate
While serving a jail sentence, Gerald Gribbin, 52, is accused of performing a sex act and dragging down the pants of another inmate.
When the assaults are said to have taken place in February 2023, both inmates were in open circumstances at the jail, according to the Norwich Magistrates’ Court.
It was alleged that Gribbin had contacted a fellow prisoner and inquired about his sexual orientation before engaging in sexual contact with him, according to prosecutor Stephen Munton.
Then he allegedly pulled down his pants and followed him to another cell and a restroom.
Gribbin, of Station Road, Kettering, Northamptonshire, entered a not guilty plea to two charges of sexual assault. He has since been freed from prison on an extended license.
Gribbin denied the encounters had ever happened, according to Lisa Robinson, who represented him.
On May 27, Deputy District Judge Jacqui Appleton scheduled a preliminary hearing at the Norwich Crown Court.
He was granted bail with the stipulation that he not speak to his claimed victim.
