Newcastle is a city that receives a large number of visitors and commuters on a daily basis, and increased footfall can often result in more reports.

“We collaborate with partners to prevent disorder and maintain a safe environment in Newcastle city centre. We know that only a small number of people choose to engage in anti-social behaviour in the city, so it’s critical that we look at the root cause of this behaviour and provide support where appropriate to divert repeat offenders away from crime.”

The “City Safe” team consists of police officers, the council’s community safety team, and street rangers employed by NE1. Antisocial behaviour.

The police spokesperson continued, “The project also sees increased visibility within the city, with uniformed patrols supported by plain clothes officers to target repeat and prolific offenders.

“Since the launch of the City Safe project, reports of ASB in the city centre have decreased by 11%.” Almost every category under the ASB umbrella has decreased.

“While it is extremely encouraging to see how quickly the City Safe project has taken off, we understand that this is only the beginning, and we recognise the importance of continuing to support initiatives like this to ensure that ASB-related crimes are effectively addressed. Newcastle is known for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and we want to make sure that anyone visiting the city centre has a pleasant experience.
