Marathe reveals Premier League plan as Farke stay confirmed – ‘We are going to build the best squad’

In addition to confirming that he is “very excited” to attack the Premier League with Daniel Farke as manager, Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe made a significant financial commitment to supporters over the weekend.

Marathe, who made his first public appearance since promotion was guaranteed, stated that he fully supported Farke and that the team had never faltered in their dedication to the manager.

He stated, “I always intended to come and talk to you all after the season ended, and that time is now.” “I want to express to everyone how eager I am to run it back with Daniel.”

Marathe also announced internal promotions for Adam Underwood as sporting director and Robbie Evans as managing director, with the three now charged with building a team that can thrive in the top division.

He declared, “Together, we are going to use every penny that we are permitted to spend to go and compete in the Premier League to build the best squad that we can.”

Marathe did not mention specific names, but he did respond to rumors that had been circulating in recent weeks regarding Farke’s job, stating that the club had always planned to hold off on making any public statements until the end of the season.

He remarked, “I do want to say that I feel bad about all that speculation over the last couple of weeks.”

“I was sorry that Daniel and the coaches might have felt like they were circling about a bit. I did everything I could in secret.

“I simply had the impression that I would speak when the time was appropriate and I had something to say. I was always going to talk today, so it’s a shame that someone else tried to conjecture something a week or two earlier.

When asked about the challenge ahead, Marathe noted Leeds had something that other clubs don’t, while acknowledging the challenges encountered by recently promoted clubs.

“I don’t have any illusions that it will be simple. I am aware of every statistic. The three promoted clubs from the previous season immediately fell back to earth. Three promoted clubs immediately dropped back down two years ago. However, they lack something that we do.

First and foremost, we have a fantastic coaching team and Daniel Farke.

“Some of our athletes think that the whole is better than the parts. Our club has the support of the community. Our paid season ticket waiting list has 28,000 members, which is more than the number of season ticket holders on the actual lists of many Premier League clubs.

Marathe also emphasized Leeds’ expanding commercial capabilities, which include a recent front-of-shirt agreement with Red Bull.

“We have the chance to take all of that extra money, literally all of that extra money, and put it straight back into the field,” he stated.

Regarding Farke, Marathe commended the manager’s composure and determination during the season’s most trying times.

He is such a soothing influence. It would be an understatement to say presence. He believed what he told you all—that he was very certain we were going to the Prem. It’s why I adore him. He believes and feels that way.

“We are still in constant communication. Because someone tried to spread a rumor or whatever, I didn’t feel like it was my time to talk, but I did privately tell him that I’m looking forward to our future together.

I wasn’t in a position to talk at that moment. However, I did speak with him in private.
