Even though Hull City, West Bromwich Albion, and Norwich City are closing on appointments, and Southampton and Watford have new managers, the managerial whirlpool isn’t slowing down.
Watford has made a bold move by bringing in Paulo Pezzolano, and Southampton has announced Will Still as they get ready to return to the Championship.
Hull is hoping to replace Ruben Selles this week, and Tottenham coach Ryan Mason is scheduled to have discussions about taking over at West Brom. “The club remain keen to keep the manager’s identity under wraps for now out of respect to him, and his current club, with negotiations continuing over a deal to bring him to the MKM Stadium in the coming days,” according to HullLive.
However, Norwich is attempting to sign Liam Manning, which will result in Bristol City having a fresh opening.
According to BristolLive, the Canaries are also considering sending James Krause and Chris Hogg, who are part of Manning’s backroom staff, to Norfolk. As of right now, neither employee has a contract in place, and the Reds are entitled to payment for their labor.
It is thought that Norwich has contacted the Robins regarding Manning. The Canaries are apparently prepared to match the release clause in Manning’s City contract, so even though no deal has been finalized as of yet, it is probable that he will transfer to Carrow Road.
After being relegated, Leicester City is anticipated to fire Ruud van Nistelrooy.
“That call needs to be made sooner rather than later if van Nistelrooy is not going to leave, as seems more likely,” according to LeicestershireLive. Especially if the man entering is Russell Martin. The former Southampton manager is seen to be the most likely candidate to succeed him, and supporters have already expressed their feelings about the appointment.
“Martin would be starting on the backfoot as far as his relationship with supporters goes, and would need as much time as possible to win them around before the competitive campaign begins.”
Johannes Hoff Thorup, who just left Norwich, is he front-runner to replace Marti Cifuentes, who has been on gardening leave at Queens Park Rangers.
Danny Rohl’s future at Sheffield Wednesday is uncertain, and he is still in contact with German teams, such as Werder Bremen, but “excessive and prohibitive demands” have stopped their pursuit from progressing following fruitful negotiations.
According to the Sheffield Star: “Toward the conclusion of the season, it became more and more obvious that Röhl believed his future lay outside of Hillsborough. The German coach told reporters he had told the club of his ‘determination’ a few weeks prior to the last day. The Star has good cause to think that these discussions happened in early April.
It is generally accepted that a multi-million pound compensation charge would be associated with Röhl’s departure under the provisions of a contract that expires in the summer of 2027. As The Star has been reporting for a few weeks, it is thought that Wednesday and its chairman, Dejphon Chansiri, will continue to operate under the terms of that arrangement for as long as possible.
Mark Robins, who was just hired as Stoke City’s manager on next Year’s Day, would begin the next season as the 12th longest-serving manager in the Championship if Manning, Cifuentes, Van Nistelrooy, and Rohl all go as anticipated.
Michael Carrick (Middlesbrough) and John Mousinho (Portsmouth) have remained in their positions for more than two years, while Phil Parkinson (Wrexham) and Kieran McKenna (Ipswich Town) have been there for more than three. Then, the only other players who have held their positions for more than a year are Nathan Jones (Charlton Athletic) and Chris Wilder (Sheffield United).
