Mark Robins sums up Stoke City’s chances of causing upset vs Leeds United at Elland Road
All 24 Championship teams will be playing in another packed schedule as Leeds United hosts 15th-place Stoke at
Elland Road. The Potters have improved since Mark Robins took over as manager, and Robins has helped Stoke win
three of their last five games. However, Robins may be missing six Stoke players on Monday, including three key
ones. If Leeds United can outperform Sheffield United, they could secure their place in the top two and earn
promotion back to the Premier League.
When 3 p.m. rolls around at Elland Road, Ben Gibson, Jordan Thompson, and Eric Bocat might not be there. Before
they play Burnley this evening, Leeds would have 94 points, eight more than Chris Wilder’s Blades.
Mark Robins says Stoke will need some luck to beat Leeds away
have easily been facing relegation if it weren’t for Robins’ expertise.
But having won their past two games, the Potters will feel secure knowing that they are seven points clear of the
bottom three. They have some flexibility to come and play at Elland Road.
To upset Daniel Farke’s team, who had won the Championship three times in a row, Robins said prior to the game
that he believes his team will need some “luck” to travel to Leeds.
“Next, we head to Elland Road,” Robins informed the Stoke Sentinel. It’s a challenging game. It is without question.
It’s a challenging game. We will need to do exceptionally well, have some luck, and be exceptionally good.
“After going there and having a great time, we can prepare for our last home game on Friday. We can enjoy this now
and return to work tomorrow,” the Stoke manager continued.
Mark Robins record vs Daniel Farke will give Leeds confidence
Robins is a cunning elderly figure with vast experience in both the Football League and the Championship. Even with
Stoke, Robins knows how to go and ruin the Elland Road celebration.
He did a great job managing Coventry, and in the end, Robins’ efforts as Sky Blues manager are helping Frank
Lampard. Perhaps cruelly, a bad start to the season robbed him his Coventry role.
Mark Robins’ record vs Daniel Farke:
Date | Fixture | Competition | Venue | Result |
November 28, 2020 | Norwich v Coventry | Championship | Carrow Road | 1-1 Draw |
January 9, 2021 | Norwich v Coventry | FA Cup third round | Carrow Road | 2-0 Norwich win |
February 17, 2021 | Coventry v Norwich | Championship | CBS Arena | 2-0 Norwich win |
December 16, 2023 | Leeds v Coventry | Championship | Elland Road | 1-1 Draw |
April 6, 2024 | Coventry v Leeds | Championship | CBS Arena | 2-1 Coventry win |
September 28, 2024 | Leeds v Coventry | Championship | Elland Road | 3-0 Leeds win |
Robins has only triumphed once against Farke in six meetings throughout his tenure at Norwich and Leeds, and that was in April 2024, when Leeds lost 2-1 at Coventry, as they faltered in their attempt to catch Leicester and Ipswich.
