Marshall quits QPR to take a position in Reading.

Scott Marshall’s appointment has been confirmed by Reading.

The 52-year-old former Brentford defender, who was in his second stint at QPR’s academy, has returned to his former position as assistant coach for the first team in Reading.

Earlier this week, the League One team approached Rangers. Before joining Brentford in 1999, Marshall played for Southampton and Celtic on loan after starting his playing career at Arsenal.

He made 96 appearances during his little over four years with the Bees before rejoining the team as a coach.

He has since served as assistant manager at Swindon, Charlton, and Colchester in addition to coaching stints at Norwich and Aston Villa.

Marshall has been employed at Arsenal as well. Marshall served as Reading’s Under-23 manager for three years until taking over as interim manager in 2018 when Paul Clement was fired.

Now, he is back as Noel Hunt’s assistant at the Royals.

Last year, Marshall joined QPR as a professional development-phase coach, concentrating on academy player development.
