‘Medical Booked’: Crystal Palace player set for exit as transfer race winner named
Goodman is now expected to move to Huddersfield Town on loan and will target back to back promotions with the Terriers having missed out on the play-offs last term. The club, who are managed by former goalkeeper Lee Grant, placed 10th and were 14 points off the top six last time out.
Crystal Palace goalkeeper to complete loan move
The Crystal Palace man will compete with Lee Nicholls and Jacob Chapman between the sticks at the John Smith’s Stadium in what is his third senior loan. He spent the 2023/24 season at Colchester United.
Transfer specialist Pete O’Rourke wrote: “Crystal Palace goalkeeper Owen Goodman is having a medical at Huddersfield Town today ahead of his loan move.”
Goodman was named in the League Two Team of the Season for the 2024/25 campaign and picked up the division’s Golden Glove with 21 clean sheets – Football Insider claimed that a ‘number of EFL clubs’ were looking at a deal for the player.
Speaking about winning that award, Goodman told the AFC Wimbledon website: “I had goals that I set for myself at the start of the season. I achieved those goals – I achieved them quite early to be honest. I wanted to get 15 clean sheets and I achieved that very early in 2025. Now I’ve been able to get to 22 in all competitions and I’m really proud of what I’ve been able to achieve this season. I’ve worked really hard and put the hours into showing a lot of people what I’m about.
“I’m very thankful to the Club, the players and the staff for helping me progress. Clean sheets aren’t just down to me, they’re down to the whole team. This is an award for the whole squad.
Owen Goodman on Golden Glove award
“My Dad is probably more excited than me about the awards! For me the season isn’t over yet – I’ll continue to take it game by game. I don’t take these awards for granted, there’s not many keepers that can win these – 21 clean sheets in the league is remarkable. I’ll enjoy it all after we’re done and hopefully we’ll be promoted.”
Crystal Palace have already added a goalkeeper to their ranks this summer with Walter Benitez coming through the door from PSV Eindhoven to add European experience ahead of the Europa League campaign.
The 32-year-old is set to challenge Dean Henderson for the number one spot at Selhurst Park with Matt Turner having left the club following his loan spell.
In other news, Crystal Palace’s new owner is the ‘worst’ in the NFL and made trade decision based on video game.
