Middlesbrough in transfer tussle with Bournemouth & Lazio for 20-goal midfielder
Several teams are considering a summer transfer for Pavel Šulc from Viktoria Plzen, including Middlesbrough.
The Championship team has reportedly enquired about the aggressive playmaker, who finished the previous season
with 20 goals across all competitions for Plzen, according to a report from The Mirror.
After replacing Michael Carrick at Riverside Stadium, Rob Edwards will be eager to expand his choices this summer.
The 24-year-old helped his team finish second in the Czech First League last season with 15 goals and 9 assists from
35 games. He also scored five goals in other tournaments.

Middlesbrough eye Pavel Šulc signing but face stiff top flight competition

Nonetheless, it is believed that the Championship team will have to contend with rivals like Bournemouth, Lazio,
and other unidentified elite teams from throughout Europe for his services.
According to reports, the Czechia club is currently assessing his potential availability, therefore they have not yet
received any solid bids.
Viktoria Plzen may have to sell the 24-year-old in order to keep him from being wasted next season, as he is nearing
the end of his current deal.
Though they are in the second division of England and the Premier League, Serie A, and Bundesliga are interested, it
is still unclear if he would choose to come to Middlesbrough at this point.
Pavel Šulc signing has potential for Middlesbrough, but Rob Edwards may find it difficult to strike deal
After nearly three years under Carrick, Middlesbrough is getting ready for life under their new coach after Edwards
was hired earlier this summer. The Teesside hierarchy will be hopeful that Edwards can lead the team to a promotion
push this next season.
Although no new players have joined the team thus far, Edwards will be eager to close any deals quickly because
Boro’s campaign will begin on August 9 at home against Swansea City, just weeks before the new season officially
begins.
Being in the mix with Lazio and Bournemouth could make things tricky for Middlesbrough with a potential deal for
Šulc, however.
Given his quality of play in Czechia and European competition, the attacking midfielder might perform admirably at
Riverside Stadium if they can finalise a contract. However, Finn Azaz is now in the number 10 position.
Although Šulc is a versatile midfield option who can play in a deeper or more advanced role, he has demonstrated
more success in the latter. Based on his continued linking away, it doesn’t appear that he could replace Hayden
Hackney, as the Czech Republic international is unquestionably a far greater goal threat.
