Middlesbrough Officials At Work As Boro Progress For Birmingham City Target

As part of their efforts to capture the Dutch winger, Middlesbrough executives are currently in the Netherlands to meet with Sontje Hansen, a target for Birmingham City.

As they strive for back-to-back promotions, the Blues are already making significant progress during the transfer window.

In an effort to help Chris Davies have an incredible season in the Championship, they have been pursuing forwards and have signed Kyogo Furuhashi.

Birmingham still have other targets in mind and NEC Nijmegen’s Sontjen is a player they have shown interest in.

However, it looks like Blues are set to miss out on the Netherlands Under-21 star as a fellow Championship side are advancing for him.

According to Italian journalist Lorenzo Lepore, Middlesbrough are making rapid progress to sign the Eredivisie forward.

The deal is currently moving forward well, as he is Middlesbrough’s top target this summer.

Middlesbrough’s club officials have travelled to Holland to meet the player in the hope of securing his signature as soon as possible.

With Boro hoping to advance, the club’s leadership hopes Rob Edwards will lead them to the Premier League, where Michael Carrick was fired as manager of Middlesbrough.

Hansen, who hasn’t played abroad of the Netherlands yet, came via Ajax’s development system.

The Dutch Under-21 winger made 34 appearances during the most recent season, tallying seven goals and dishing out four assists.

Edwards hopes to have Hansen available by July 19, when Middlesbrough’s preseason opener against Mansfield Town takes place.
