Boro manager Rob Edwards hopes to strengthen his team further this week.
Middlesbrough may have had a perfect start to the season, but the club isn’t standing still in the last week of the transfer market, with manager Rob Edwards eager to bolster his squad further. Boro made it three wins out of three Championship games on Saturday afternoon, thanks to goals from Finn Azaz and Tommy Conway, who helped them win 2-1 at Norwich City.
Edwards, who is proudly in an automatic promotion spot, understands how long and difficult the campaign ahead will be, and with 43 more games to play in the league, the manager wants to ensure he has the necessary depth to deal with the number of games ahead.
That means adding to a group that has already undergone changes this summer under the new manager. While not going into too much detail, Edwards has revealed the Cubs are close to finalizing a couple of trades and anticipates a busy week in the transfer market.

“We’re coming close in a few places. “I don’t want to say much more than that right now,” Edwards explained.
“The boys have worked really hard behind the scenes, and we’re almost there. The group is beginning to appear stronger, with players returning from injury, which is really beneficial.
“It’s fantastic when you can turn around and people can make a difference. If we can bring in a couple more, it will put us in good shape for what we know will be a busy period with lots of games. “You’ll need that group.”
Edwards would aim to make another selection choice before Saturday’s home game against Sheffield United, but with an international break looming, the manager will undoubtedly be pleased to complete all scheduled business before the transfer deadline on September 1.
