‘Might get more game-time than I had anticipated’ – Millwall boss assesses impact of attacker.

ALEX Neil praised “tactically excellent” Jack Howland following his goal in Tuesday’s 3-0 friendly win over AFC Wimbledon at Plough Lane.

Following Femi Azeez’s opener, Howland fired into the bottom corner, and Mihailo Ivanovic added the third after halftime. Neil has given a number of the Lions’ young players opportunities during the preseason.

Howland attended the training camp in Spain and played in friendlies against Northampton Town and Elche.

Neil is still assessing them before deciding whether to include them in his senior squad this season or send a number of them out on loan.

Neil has been impressed by Howland. “I think Jack at the moment is tactically excellent,” Neil told NewsAtDen.

“He understands everything I’m asking of him. He performs exceptionally well in tight spaces. Which is extremely difficult to find in young players:

tactically and technically equipped. I believe he possesses both. “If he keeps up his current rate of progress, he might get more game time than I expected.

“He has done well, and he is on the team based on merit. We still have a lot of lads to come back, but it’s encouraging to see the quality and potential of some of the younger boys.
