Millwall reject two bids from Wycombe Wanderers for player with ‘serious ability and talent’

Millwall began their season with an away win at Carrow Road over Norwich City, securing the victory on a 2-1 scoreline.

Norwich were disappointed to have lost the game, as they failed to get Josh Sargent into the match, with Jacob Wright believing they need to alter their mindset to improve going forward.

Millwall won’t worry, as they started their new Championship campaign perfectly as they look to go a step further and achieve an unlikely promotion to the Premier League.

However, to achieve this, they will need to ensure they have the best squad possible, and that means both adding further to it and also making certain they hold onto their best talents.

Now one of their more youthful talents has become the interest of Wycombe Wanderers, after they agreed to sell Richard Kone to QPR.

Millwall reject two bids from Wycombe for Aidomo Emakhu

Alex Neil’s side have reportedly rejected two bids for Aidomo Emakhu from Wycombe Wanderers, as revealed in Southwark News.

The Ireland underage international made a late appearance at the weekend for Millwall, coming off the bench in the 89th minute, while he has also featured in every pre-season friendly this summer.

This should indicate exactly what Alex Neil thinks of the youthful attacker, as he is clearly in his plans this campaign.

Emakhu is a 21-year-old winger who made 25 league appearances for the Lions last season, six of which were starts, and recorded two assists, who is a direct runner with incredible pace.

Millwall signed the attacker from Shamrock Rovers in January 2023, having seen him impress in the League of Ireland as a teenager.

Shamrock Rovers’ manager on Aidomo Emakhu

The Shamrock Rovers manager was a huge fan of Emakhu, handing him his debut for the club at the age of 17 and trusting him to compete at the European level for Shamrock Rovers.

Speaking to the Irish Sun back in 2021, Bradley spoke about the time he put him forward to Arsenal when he was a scout for the Premier League outfit.

He said: “The boy is a talent. If you know Aidomo’s background, he was with Lourdes Under-10s and Under-11s; he was at every club in England.

“At Under-11s, Under-12s, he was the hottest prospect in Dublin, and everyone wanted him. He lost his way for two years physically; he was smaller than everyone.

“And that knocked his confidence. But at 15 and 16 he has taken that growth. His ability has always been there.

“With that growth, his confidence has come back in how he plays. He had a knock, so that’s why I’m so hesitant about putting him in and hurting him again.

“You’ve only seen a glimpse of it, but there is serious ability and talent.

“We just need to put him in and take him out at the right times and look after him. When the time is right, he will get his run of games.”
