Millwall sign Chelsea’s Sturge for undisclosed fee
The 21-year-old defender made five appearances for Alex Neil’s team during the second part of the previous season while on loan at
The Den.
After Josh Coburn’s club record move from Middlesbrough and goalie Max Crocombe’s arrival from Burton Albion, Sturge has agreed
to a “long-term” contract with Millwall, making him the team’s third summer acquisition.
Sturge played in Millwall’s last three games of the season and made his Lions debut in February’s 1-0 away victory against Derby
County.
According to Millwall’s external website, “We’re so pleased to bring Zak in on a permanent basis,” said Steve Gallen, director of
football.
“He joined on loan in January, and although we were aware of his skill as a player, Joe Bryan was playing incredibly well, which
prevented Zak from getting many chances on the pitch.

“He has a great left foot and loves to get forward, but he is also good in one-v-one situations defensively.”
On Saturday, August 9, Millwall will travel to Norwich City to kick off the new Championship season.
