Millwall have shattered their transfer record by signing Josh Coburn on a permanent basis, in a deal worth up to £5 million including add-ons.
Coburn, 22, spent last season on loan at The Den and, despite a difficult period with injuries, made an impression, scoring five goals in 20 Championship appearances.
Millwall were always keen on getting Coburn back permanently, and Mirror Football knows the club spent a large sum to do so, with the total price of the deal well exceeding their last spend – £3.5 million for Camiel Neghli in January – in a significant show of commitment.
Last summer, the Lions attempted to sign Coburn permanently, but ultimately opted to a loan to bring the highly rated frontman in for the season.

After talks over a permanent agreement began in January, Coburn is now a full-time Millwall player.
Millwall have already signed Max Crocombe on a permanent basis, and an agreement for Zak Sturge, a Chelsea left-back who spent time on loan at The Den last season, is progressing, albeit there are still some minor elements to work out with the Blues.
Alex Neil is anxious to bolster his team with fresh additions ahead of the upcoming Championship season, hoping to eventually break into the top six.
Central midfielders are a priority, and the club is looking for a new custodian to compete with Crocombe, as Lukas Jensen, the Lions’ No.1 goalie, is expected to miss a significant portion of the 2025-26 season recovering from an Achilles injury.
Middlesbrough will give the monies gained from Coburn’s sale to their new head coach, Rob Edwards, to assist him rebuild his football roster.
