Millwall’s dream XI after summer transfer window with three more signings needed.

Millwall are gradually building a very impressive squad, and three more additions this summer could put them right in the mix for a promotion push.
Following a sluggish start in 2024/25 under Neil Harris, Millwall decided to change managers, appointing Alex Neil. That decision proved to be correct, as the Lions climbed the table and finished just short of the play-offs last season.
As we look ahead to the 2025/26 Championship season, we believe Millwall will be dark horses once again, but they will need to sign a few more players first.

Three more signings needed for Millwall’s dream XI this summer
Steven Benda
With first-choice custodian Lukas Jensen injured, Neil decided to bring in some experience between the sticks this summer.
Steven Benda of Fulham has joined Millwall on loan until the end of the season and will be the club’s new number one.
Alfie Gilchrist
Next, we’ll line up one of Millwall’s three new players. While keeping Zak Sturge on loan from Chelsea is a great move (more on him soon), the Lions need balance on the right and can once again turn to their London neighbours.
Alfie Gilchrist has already been linked with Middlesbrough and Coventry City, but Millwall could take advantage and sign him instead.
Japhet Tanganga
Alex Neil has made it clear that Japhet Tanganga is not for sale, and keeping the big defender could be the best business decision Millwall makes this summer. He’s one of the division’s best defenders, capable in both boxes and a true leader.
Jake Cooper
Jake Cooper, an experienced Millwall defender, plays alongside Tanganga. There’s a good chance he’ll be given the captain’s armband following Shaun Hutchinson’s departure, and it would be well-deserved.
Zak Sturge
We mentioned earlier that Millwall has loaned Zak Sturge for another season, and he’s an excellent addition to the left side of defence. He only recently began his career at the end of last season and has the potential to be one of the best young players in the Championship by 2025/26.

Casper De Norre
Casper De Norre is an integral part of Millwall’s midfield. The Belgian midfielder is a workhorse who helps to anchor the team and is a solid foundation for Neil to build his system on.
Alfie Devine
However, Millwall require someone with more dynamism and creativity to complement De Norre, and Alfie Devine would be ideal. According to reports last week, Millwall are interested in the Spurs youngster, who has already proven himself capable of playing in the Championship after a loan spell with Plymouth Argyle in 2023/24.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi
The departure of George Honeyman to Blackpool could be detrimental to Millwall, who require a new right winger to replace him. The problem is that many clubs are looking for a similar player, but Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is available, and a move to Rangers recently fell through. Time to swoop!
Mihailo Ivanovic
Mihailo Ivanovic is one of Millwall’s most important players, having scored 12 goals last season. Wolves are interested in the Serbian striker, but Millwall have made it clear he will not be cheap. Alex Neil will be desperate to keep him, and he could improve even more in 2025/26 now that he has settled into the EFL.
Alfie Doughty
Millwall’s biggest signing of the summer so far is Alfie Doughty from Luton Town. Millwall fans are thrilled, and rightfully so. Doughty has Premier League experience and is one of the best left-sided players in the division. Not to overstate things, but he completely transforms Alex Neil’s team.
Josh Coburn
Speaking of big transfers, Millwall broke their own transfer record this summer by signing Josh Coburn from Middlesbrough. He scored five goals in 20 games last season and, like Ivanovic, should be capable of more this season.
