The Player of the Year nominations are in, and it’s no surprise that Celtic dominate.
Four men compete for the Player of the Year award: Calum McGregor, Daizen Maeda, Nicolas Kuhn, and Dundee’s Simon Murray.
Celtic won their 55th Premiership title over Dundee United over the weekend, ending weeks of anticipation.

Kuhn scored two goals, while Maeda and McGregor assisted, as Brendan Rodgers’ team dominated at Tannadice.
Those goals were much-needed for Kuhn because things have changed dramatically for the winger since the turn of the year compared to what he was generating at the start of the season.
When discussing the Player of the Year contenders, McGregor mentioned how he offered roses to his teammates and how things had changed.
Callum McGregor hails Celtic duo Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kuhn after Player of the Year nominations
McGregor, rightfully, presented roses to both of his colleagues, Maeda and Kuhn, for their ‘unbelievable’ performances this season, according to Sky Sports.
According to the Celtic captain, Kuhn was once considered a ‘nailed on’ candidate for Player of the Year.
McGregor believes Maeda has taken over by scoring 16 Premiership goals in 2025, while Kuhn has only 10.
“Yeah, unbelievable,” McGregor said of Maeda and Kuhn’s seasons. “Obviously, there are two attackers that get the most attention because everyone wants to see goals. These two guys have been incredible.
“Nic (Kuhn) has had an excellent start to the season. He is certainly a lock for Player of the Year until a certain time, when Daizen (Maeda) steps in and takes over the chant.
“From our perspective, it’s fantastic that the two attacking players have scored so many goals and provided so many assists. As I already stated, this always benefits the entire group.
“These two guys have had amazing seasons and definitely right in the mix for Player of the Year.”
Why McGregor voted for Simon Murray as Player of the Year
Murray, Dundee’s goalscoring machine, is also on the list, along with the Celtic trio, and is hoping to keep his team out of the relegation zone.
Murray, 33, is an experienced campaigner who is having the finest season of his career, scoring 15 league goals.
While McGregor would have like to vote for one of his colleagues, he explained why he chose the man from Dundee instead.
“I voted for Simon Murray actually,” confessed McGregor. “As he simply walks in. Good timing.
“However, I believe he has been terrific. Obviously, we cannot vote for ourselves; if that were the case, I would have voted for one of our candidates.
“Simon has been fantastic. He’s scored so many goals. He’s been a major player. When he played against us, he made things difficult for us, so he received my vote.”
