Nathan Jones makes Stoke City point as he becomes wanted man again
After learning from his two departures from Luton Town, Nathan Jones is adamant that he is dedicated to Charlton
Athletic for the long haul.
After finishing 16th last season and after three prior mainly dismal seasons at that level following relegation from the
Championship, Jones has turned things around at Charlton, who are currently in the League One play-offs. On
Sunday, they play Wycombe Wanderers in the first leg of the semi-final.
Jones is convinced that he won’t make the same mistake he did when he left Luton, where he excelled in two spells,
first for Stoke City and then for Southampton. This has led to rumours that he might be on the wanted list in the
Championship, where there are now a tonne of openings.

be thinking like that – because after the Leyton Orient game (a 2-0 loss in the EFL Trophy on December 10), I think
a lot of people were thinking I’d be out in a different way.”
“After a little more than a year of working on this project, I’m rather pleased with the advancements this football
team has achieved. I’d like to keep doing it. I had several options and took on two tasks that I thought were
appropriate at the moment, so I wasn’t hasty to leave Luton. But those have taught me. This place makes me very
happy.
Jones, who performed admirably in two stints—one for Stoke City and the other for Southampton—is certain he
won’t make the same error he did when he left Luton. Due to the abundance of available spots in the Championship,
there are currently suspicions that he may be on the desired list.
“We make sensible choices. I have a great team and am free to accomplish my job as I see fit. I adore my home. I
therefore don’t want to quit this football team. I’d like to be present. I want to construct something, and I firmly
believe that we can accomplish our objective in the medium term.
