New Aberdeen signing Nicolas Milanovic on how he will excite supporters and why he chose to joins the Dons.

Winger Milanovic explains why he watched Aberdeen’s Scottish Cup final victory with Hibs teammates… in Abu Dhabi. New signing.

Nicolas Milanovic has vowed to delight Aberdeen fans with his attacking abilities as he seeks trophy success.

Milanovic was signed for roughly £400,000 from Australian A-League team Western Sydney Wanderers. Aberdeen signed the newly crowned A-League player of the year to a three-year contract, with the option to extend it by another year.

The 23-year-old is sweating it out at the Dons’ 10-day training camp in Portugal, where temperatures have reached 37°C.

Milanovic’s acquisition was formally announced on May 15, nine days before Aberdeen won the Scottish Cup with a penalty shootout victory over Celtic.

The winger claimed that he watched the final alongside Hibs players at an Australian national squad training camp in Abu Dhabi.

Milanovic vows to excite supporters

Milanovic was inspired by the club’s first silverware triumph since 2014 and is eager to win a trophy with Aberdeen.

He stated, “I’m an attack-minded player who enjoys carrying the ball forward and creating opportunities. “I enjoy playing on the wing but also move inside to play in that small pocket.

“Fans may expect a lot of thrilling stuff, including shooting, dribbling, and crossing. “I’m looking forward to demonstrating that to the supporters and bringing them out of their seats by driving the ball towards goal.

“That is more my style, but the good news is that I’ve also made significant improvements in my defence.

“And the gaffer here is really big on that.” Milanovic is one of four new additions as manager Jimmy Thelin looks to bolster the squad ahead of a season that promises European league involvement.

Why did Milanovic sign for Dons?

Two more Australians were signed on free transfers, forward Kusini Yengi from Portsmouth and keeper Nick Suman from Cove Rangers, after their contracts expired.

Left-back Emmanuel Gyamfi was signed from German second-tier Schalke. Milanovic lives in a villa in Portugal with Suman, custodian Dimitar Mitov, and midfielder Ante Palaversa.

Aberdeen brushed off competition from clubs all over Europe to sign the winger.

Why did he chose the Reds? “The club has a very good reputation in Scotland,” Milanovic stated. “It is a club that I felt was the ideal next step in my career because I want to do big things for not only the club but also my country. “European football was also a motivator.

“This season, we play for the league, two cups, and Europe. “Europe is something that children dream about, particularly in Australia. “Putting on the shirt and playing in the European league is something I couldn’t have imagined telling my younger self.

“I’m sure we’ll play against some big clubs in Europe. “I like to test myself to see where I’m at, and what I need to get better at.” In May, the winger was selected for a training camp in Abu Dhabi and received his first call-up to the Australian national side.

Winger targeting World Cup slot

He did not make the final roster for the World Cup qualifiers against Saudi Arabia or Japan. Australia won both games, securing qualification for the World Cup next summer.

Milanovic is determined to excel in Aberdeen to secure a World Cup spot. He stated, “I hope to make the World Cup squad next year. “Now it’s just a procedure for me.

“You don’t get into the green and gold until you first compete at the club level. “That’s why Aberdeen is a great fit for me because if I can make an impact here and go on great runs with this team, I may be rewarded with a national team success.” Socceroos head coach Tony Popovic also named four Hibs players to the team for Abu Dhabi: Martin Boyle, Jack Iredale, Lewis Miller, and Nectarios Triantis.

Inspired by Scottish Cup triumph

Milanovic joined the Hibs team in watching Aberdeen win the Scottish Cup in the United Arab Emirates. The Hampden victory encouraged the winger to help the Dons win further silverware, and the homecoming procession blew him away. The winger stated, “I felt extremely blessed to watch the final. “I was with the Hibs boys watching that.

“Seeing how Aberdeen could pull that off made me think, wow, what a club, what a set of boys, coaching staff, and fans. “That’s something I’d like to be involved in.

“Just to see what a title in Europe can accomplish for guys, that is where I want to be. “I heard and researched that it was a one-city club. “However, I wasn’t expecting that on the bus through the city. “When I woke up the next morning, some of the photographs and videos I saw made me think, ‘That is ridiculous’. “I want to be a part of this club’s title-winning success.

“I’ve never done a parade before, for any title. “That’s definitely a dream of mine.”
