Phil Neumann on his desire to play for Birmingham City
Since Phil Neumann’s contract was expiring this summer, he signed a pre-contract agreement with the team back in January.
When Neumann was about to quit the German team, the manager of Hannover 96 gave him a heartfelt note this week.
Although the player’s contract expires on July 1st, Birmingham has already made the announcement and performed the player’s first interview on their official YouTube channel.
Neumann stated in the interview that he wants to return the Midlands team to the Premier League.
“I’m really happy about my decision,” he remarked. I’m eager to play in the Championship and help Birmingham win there.
“Playing in England has always been my dream. Birmingham, a huge club with a long history, put up a strong fight for me and made me feel good.
“I’m excited to play my first game here, get to know the supporters, and meet my teammates.” I’m glad to be here, and the stadium and pitch are both excellent.
“I believe the team is out of place, and I hope I can help them return to the Premier League.”
An explanation of Phil Neumann’s style of play
Birmingham’s newcomer also described his personality as a footballer throughout the conversation.
“I’m a hard player and a really fast player,” he remarked. I enjoy tackling, blocking, and occasionally scoring goals; I aspire to score a lot of goals in the stadium.
The 27-year-old made 32 2. Bundesliga games over the course of 2024/25, scoring two and assisting one.
He is a right-footed defender who has played center-back for the most of his career. But Neumann has also made 97 appearances as a right-back.
