Tom Cleverley, Brian Barry-Murphy and Simon Grayson are all going into new jobs this weekend. Cleverley has joined Plymouth, Murphy is the new Cardiff manager and Grayson will take charge of Hartlepool.
Cleverley played for Leicester on loan back in the League One promotion season. He played 15 league games, scored 2 goals. On his return to Man Utd, he established himself in the first team. His best years came a bit later. He became an England full international in 2012. He played 13 times for England.
He had more loan spells, representing Wigan, Watford and Aston Villa, before being transferred to Everton. He joined Watford in 2017. First on loan and then permanent, being with The Hornets for the last eight years. He has been playing, coaching in the academy and also been the manager unitil recently.
The move to Plymouth, will be one positive. Cleverley is highly skilled. We believe he will take The Pilgrims back up on the first attempt. They were relegated from the Championship.
Brian Barry-Murphy is expected to take over at Cardiff. He joined Leicester a few months back. He has a good CV from his time coaching with Man City before moving to join Ruud van Nistelrooy. Barry-Murphy was seen as one of the most skilful coaches in the game. Unfortunately, his time at Leicester did not showcase that skill.
Simon Grayson is back in management. He will be the new boss of Hartlepool. The former Leicester defender has been on a journey. His first taste of management came at Blackpool. He was initially thrown in to do some interim work. However, he stayed with The Seasiders for three years as a manger, from 2002 to 2008. He was before that a player at the club. He later managed Leeds, Huddersfield, Preston, Sunderland, and Bradford. He made a return to Blackpool. Fleetwood became next, before moving to India and Nepal to coach. Now returning to the north of England to join Hartlepool United, currently competing in the National League.
