Southampton target Manor Solomon reveals his plan of preferring Leeds United for a permanent summer move rather than embarking on a new Saints journey.
Tyler Dibling reportedly acknowledged that teammates had made fun of him for his declining transfer value. Even if Dibling leaves, it won’t be for £100 million or for Tottenham, for whom this amount was quoted, as harsh as that may sound.
He’s not alone on this list, which is odd. In addition to Dibling’s complete failure at his Tottenham audition, teammate Harwood-Bellis also failed to impress, ending his Spurs connections.
A few weeks ago, it would have been inconceivable to imagine Saints not switching to Tottenham, but now that it isn’t possible, it is. What’s unexpected, though? It also works the other way around.
This is because Manor Solomon, a Tottenham loanee and Saints target, has rejected them, making even a possible reversal seem strange at this point.
Notably, the Saints’ position in Solomon’s transfer race has been thrown off course in recent weeks, much like the Southampton to Tottenham falloff. To make matters worse, it’s for Leeds United, St. Mary’s new rivals.
Solomon’s preference for a long-term Leeds stay over a new road was recently revealed by GiveMeSport. Therefore, Southampton is practically done trying to persuade Solomon, even with an exorbitant transfer fee, even though the player’s move isn’t official yet.
Solomon’s stance must not disappoint Southampton
As a Saints supporter, it is undoubtedly disappointing to lose out on an experienced league player, but is Southampton being warned or is this a lesson?
Walker-Peters, a former Tottenham player, took aim at Southampton’s odd forward-line acquisition a few days ago. Imagine, then, that Solomon were to make another of the unsuccessful signings.
Therefore, from a positive perspective, Southampton may have just avoided yet another setback.
Rather, the message now seems obvious. Prioritize reviving the offensive line over well-known and dependable heroes like Che Adams or Patrick Bamford.
Instead of viewing it as a half-empty jug, Southampton supporters must see it as a half-filled one. Perhaps this is fate’s way of reminding them to stay true to who they are.
